transport club
who can remember the transport club in russel rd high park?, in the beginning it was restricted to transport employees, bus drivers etc, but membership soon became open to the public i played snooker for the club in the early days & we were always near the top of the league,i have happy memories of saturday lunchtime sessions when there was always a good cardschool going. one saturday there was a large kitty going when suddenly this guy stood up & accused one of the other players of cheating & said im going home for my gun & ran out, i think he was a bit lame under the cap because everyone just carried on playing as if nothing had happened.happy days are here again..

I used to go to the Transport club under sufferance with my mum to the Old Time Dancing. Syd Floodgate played the piano and that was where I first heard Birth of the Blues which he played practically every week especially for me cos I was the youngest person there!!!
