There used to be a children's convalescent hospital on Hawkshead Street - between Hall St and Zetland Street. It's been torn down and is now a block of flats I believe.

My brother was in Haweshead Street Childrens hospital, I think it may have been when he had rheumatic fever. Another friend with C.P. was in Hawkeshead St Childrens Hospital. It was mainly used for convalescence. There were about 110 beds.

Hi Mack my names Carol
I was in that hospital when I was 7 It would have been back in 1964/65. I can remember everything about it, well almost, I even remember some of the nurses names and lots of the kids names, my old friends, where you there at all? I even remember the phone number it was Southport 4502, I think at the time the dialing code for Southport was 555. I was also in the isolation hospital New Hall, because I got chicken pox. Please feel free to write back to me, and I can fill you in on the info I remember, maybe you might know some of my old friends who I have been looking for? Take care

I was there in the hospital 1964/65 and remember nearly everything about it, most of the patients (my old friends, who I would dearly love to find) and some of the staff, especially my favourite Nurse Draper, please feel free to write back to me, take care

My Nan, Connie Gaskell worked at the children's hospital in the early 70's.She has lots of fond memories of the place and can still remember the names of some of the children, even though she's now 87 some of them have always stayed with her.

Yes I know that place, spent two years of my life there on Blumberg Ward 1971-1972. Was pulled down in late 80s, is now residential housing.

I think I may have been there around the same time. Happy memories, not sure it solved any of my problems but it didn't do me any harm.
