Question. There is an embankment in the top end of Victoria park between the boating lake & the grassed area, was this part of the Cheshire lines track heading to the Palace station??
    I think, therefore I am

Having not lived in Southport for many years it's probly not far off thirty years since I last paid a visit to Victoria Park so I'm not too sure of the area you mean. I looked on Google Earth which didn't really help.

All I can say is the tracks went straight through the area now occupied by the supermarket and swimming baths. The site occupied by the railway was quite substantial and included a fairly large goods marshalling yard.

Do you think that's really wise?

I think you are talking about Weld Rd where the road went over a bridge across the railway immediately under Weld Rd the platform of Birkdale Palace Station started and stretched towards Ainsdale. The Railway ran where the caravan club now site their caravans on the seaward side of Victoria Park.

    Great photo Qwackerz.

Do you know what the buildings to the north of the Palace Hotel are ? Today, the site is occupied by Beach Proiry Gardens.

Brill Quacks the embankment is still in the Weld rd end of the park situated on the park side of the new model boat lake (I will take a photo next time I'm walking the dog there) Her is an updated view with the quirky shaped buildings still there & you can just make out the still existing embankment from the track just left of the boating lake.

Warren Court off Westcliffe Rd. You are partaking too much grape juice.
