Hi Jeff, sorry to sound ungratetful, but is there any chance of seeing the photo (and the VE day one) a little bit bigger?
We are struggling to see if we recognise anyone!

Do you have any more info on them?

    Thanks for uploading them though,
    C.

For the moment, you can use Ctrl and + (- to reduce afterwards) or Ctrl + scroll wheel in both IE and Firefox to increase or decrease the font and pic sizes.

I have done all I can to improve the Home Guard pic. it was very poor but I plan to use Photoshop if that does not work I will take it to a professional. The Ribble Ave cul-de-sac pic. I know most of the individuals in the picture but I was hoping they would respond.

I seem to remember a Mr and Mrs Topping (?) lived on the left hand side as you went into the cul-de-sac.

That is correct we lived next door the Toppings had a balcony that overlooked our house, my Mum and Mrs Topping used to chat away what seemed like hours to me.
Mr Topping had relatives from the USA living in the UK and would visit in a big black 1940s Buick auto.as a young guy I was impressed with this as all I had ever seen was a MG that the Police used, one day, I said I will have a car like that and today I own one, a 2007 Buick.
it was a long time coming.

My mother and father were friendly with the Toppings - we lived further up towards Poolside Walk. Some references to Ribble Avenue around that time in this link:
