    RTC - Heathy Lane, Scarisbrick

The emergency services were called to Heathy Lane, Scarisbrick, at approximately 2:30pm this afternoon (Friday 17th February 2012) following reports of a RTC. A motorbike was involved in an accident on the sharp bend at the bottom of Shirdley Hill Bridge.

Fire-fighters sprayed the road with chemicals after oil spilled onto the surface.

Fire-fighters left the scene at about 3:20pm.

When we got there motorbike was underneath the van, young lad was lying on floor but had his head up which I guess is a good sign. Hope he is ok.

I used to live just around the corner from this junction and I had a lucky escape one day, vehicles come speeding from either the bridge or Heathy Lane and can't negotiate the sharp bend in the road. I can't believe sometimes the speed that people travel through the 'stubs' as we locals used to call them. All they need to do is 'SLOW DOWN'

Why not force traffic to slow at this junction, with a mini roundabout. That would be far better than having the main road with a 90 degree righthand bend. Wouldn't cost much as it would be mainly a paint job.
