Our Clerk, Trevor Rimmer has expressed a wish to retire in the not too distant future. This makes us focus on succession and makes us realise (if we didn’t already know) what a key role this is.
He is a diplomat, an accountant, a secretary, a strategist, a tactician, an organiser and much, much more.
Trevor (pictured centre, above) is committed to offering his successor an extended handover period if necessary. Obviously someone with experience would be an advantage but a person with the enthusiasm and dedication to perform a rewarding task is just as desirable.
Some of the qualities and qualifications that the new Clerk will have are:-
Essential.
High Level of numeracy and literacy,
Be the holder of, or be willing to complete, the CiLCA qualification for Clerks,
Experience of working in an office and dealing with the public,
Ability to work alone or in a team,
A good working knowledge and understanding of Local Government structures and practices,
Experience of advising and serving committees and working with members,
Competence in book keeping and administration (demonstrating a high standard of computer literacy,
Ability to recognise political/legal consequences of action being recommended by members,
Ability to communicate at all levels in the community both orally and in writing,
Excellent organisational skills,
Willingness to work evenings when Council or committees meet,
Flexible and committed to the Council.
Desirable.
Confident public speaker,
An awareness of the advantages that new technology could have on the servicing of Council and committees,
Typing skill,
Current driving licence.
As you can see from the above, the position is a demanding and very responsible role. It requires a high level of dedication
If you think that you have most if not all of these qualities and are interested in receiving further information, then please contact Trevor on 01704 535366 or 07748968643.
Councillor Michael Forshaw,
Chairman of Scarisbrick Parish Council.

Trevor has been Mr Scarisbrick Parish Clerk and will be hard to replace, I know I speak for many of my friends when I say THANKYOU, for all you've done for us.
-
I have known Trevor for a number of years he is an exceptionally nice man and I wish him all the very best for the future.

It was only after my initial perusal of the "qualifications " for the advertised post that I took it to be for a National or International company .
I was somewhat amused then to discover that in actuality it is for what could be best described as an " an overseer of the local poor " or " supervision of the collection of the local night soil ".
The power which lurks behind the seat of parochial politics is quite terrifying.
