RTC - Heathy Lane, Scarisbrick
The emergency services were called to Heathy Lane, Scarisbrick, at approximately 2:30pm this afternoon (Friday 17th February 2012) following reports of a RTC. A motorbike was involved in an accident on the sharp bend at the bottom of Shirdley Hill Bridge.

Fire-fighters sprayed the road with chemicals after oil spilled onto the surface.
Fire-fighters left the scene at about 3:20pm.

Was diverted this afty due to this looked like it might have been nasty - the fire brigade were leaving when I got there but police still very much in evidence

When we got there motorbike was underneath the van, young lad was lying on floor but had his head up which I guess is a good sign. Hope he is ok.

I used to live just around the corner from this junction and I had a lucky escape one day, vehicles come speeding from either the bridge or Heathy Lane and can't negotiate the sharp bend in the road. I can't believe sometimes the speed that people travel through the 'stubs' as we locals used to call them. All they need to do is 'SLOW DOWN'

Amen to that!! - this is my nark on a forum thread about that area and the run up to Maghull throught the back

Why not force traffic to slow at this junction, with a mini roundabout. That would be far better than having the main road with a 90 degree righthand bend. Wouldn't cost much as it would be mainly a paint job.
