The Floral Hall was packed last night as Question Time was broadcast for the first time from west Lancashire.
Some 154 people were in the select audience for the UK's most popular political 'talk show' which gives members of the public a chance to quiz members of the panel on a whole host of topical subjects.

QLocal was there to capture the atmosphere as hopefuls submitted questions for the panel which last night included International Development Minister Alan Duncan MP, Labour's Shadow Justice Secretary Sadiq Khan MP, former head of the CBI Digby Jones, creator of Grange Hill and Brookside Phil Redmond, and Emma Boon from the Taxpayers Alliance.

Just after 7pm, David Dimbleby appeared to chat to the audience about the show and how it's run. He had to stand on a chair so everyone could see and hear him.

He spent twenty minutes or so briefing them, mixing his talk with some QT anecdotes including when the Top of the Pops audience went into the QT studio - and vica versa!
At 7.30, the audience was led into the hall to be seated before a full rehearsal took place prior to the show's recording.

Every time Digby Jones & Phil Redmond opened their mouths comment sense came out. The rest were talking the usual bull.

I agree with you about Phil Redmond. Digby Jones seemed to think that the programme was entitled "The Digby Jones Show."

nice thought but since when has the Floral Hall / Southport been part of West Lancashire?

its southport merseyside.
I dont want you in merseyside any way.
If i had my way I would drop you lot tommorow like a hot brick. This would enable we the indigineous people of merseyside to save on our council tax , instead of spending it on your grubby little town.

Merseyside is a "made up" county and Liverpool used to be in Lancashire as well so bit of a silly response tbh

If they did drop anywhere north of Crosby from merseyside there wouldn't be any council tax to spend!!! People actually have to go to work to pay it :)

Do yourself a favour and spend the money that you're saving on your Council Tax on spelling and punctuation lessons.

The majority of the posts in this thread sound like squabbling school children. All I will add is that if the introduction had read Lancashire I could have understood it but it says West Lancashire which came about in the same round of reorganisations as Sefton and Merseyside and does not include Southport.

not seen it yet, but sky plussed it, been told about the well known Southport benefit scrounger asking questions about aid to India.

I take it you didn't actually watch the show? There were quite a few teenagers in the audience, and if I remember rightly. They spoke well, made some very good points and did themselves proud, well done.
