Portland Street Cycle Project fiasco UPDATE

This project took another twist today Friday 3rd February 2012

Remember this is the intersection that has featured here on SGB/Q Local quite a few times from work that was finished that had to be undone and refinished, to the health and safety issues and the problems with the road closure.

Today Friday 3rd March 2012 the Portland Street part of the King St intersection was dug up again by contractors following defects to the concrete (cracking).

Below was the state of play on (Friday 11th March 2011) when it started to rain and a large puddle emerged.

But that is not the end of it..........

Shortly after at 3.40pm a yellow duck arrived and 7 minutes later 2 more ducks arrived.

A spokesman for the early learning centre said the ducks where at Lord Street at 3-00pm.

No one from the Council was available for comment but a council worker did say QUACK QUACK!

Below - Contractors digging up the road today Friday 3rd February 2012

Just what we needed on this cold night..................a bit of humour.

This is what I love about Qlocal ...... every night when I get home I log on to see what is on the news.

You never know what you are going to read.

    Never let down

I wonder if the ducks will come back every year.

    Looks like the contractors are.

One trusts that the contractor is being made to pay for this error, rather than the Council Tax payers having to cough up..

As long as the Council do not suggest culling the ducks.

Relieved contractors not 'ducking' their responsibilities.

    N.B. Which one is Jemima?

Portland St. should be excavated to create a canal which should be extended to meet up with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The Portland canal could be then extended to the Marine Lake. With these simple measures and a selected breeding programme DUKWS could be reintroduced to Southport.

Soooooo its nothing to do with cycling!

Purely a materials or workmanship defect - don't suppose that sounds very sexy.

I suppose it got a response from me tho'!
