West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has tabled parliamentary questions over the failure of the Health and Safety Executive to report its finding into the PHS Waste Management incident on Burscough industrial estate last October.

Despite an ongoing investigation, for over 12 months there has been no indication of when the final report and its recommendations will be released, and during this period Rosie has remained in regular contact with the HSE requesting a report.

Residents in nearby Lordsgate Lane have expressed serious concerns for their safety following the incident and have been patiently awaiting the outcome of the HSE investigations.

MP Rosie said: “Everyone expects the Health and Safety Executive to carry out a thorough investigation yet local residents can’t be left hanging on indefinitely. The length of time it has taken to carry out this investigation is unacceptable and why I have taken the steps to raise this issue in Parliament.

“For over twelve months there has been no communication with local folk, and there is still no end in sight yet every time I contact the HSE all I’m told is that the investigation is ongoing.

“As every day passes, it's losing more and more credibility and confidence into what the outcome of the investigation will be.”

“I hope the HSE will use this opportunity to take action on this matter.”
