Over-zealous enforcement officer issues ticket outside Vincent Hotel
A legally parked Range Rover was today slapped with a fixed penalty parking fine outside The Vincent Hotel, Southport, by an over-zealous civil enforcement officer.

The car owner was a paying visitor at the hotel who had paid for a ticket late Tuesday night which ran until 10:00am this morning (Wednesday).

The hotel doorman explained the situation to the enforcement officer at about 8:30am this morning but a ticket was still issued.

Another piece of cutting edge reporting.

OTS never lets facts get in the way of a story! You want professional reporting? Go to a proper news website, this one is a joke.
-
It say "Expiry time 10:00 WE", does that mean Wendnesday (today0?
The word "Date" is written between the printed date of 24/01/12 and the issued time of 22:37.
So is the large printed Date the expiry or the issue? Not a very clear way to present information on the ticket.
-
Once again how embarrasing is this none story to the other members/employees of southportgb/qlocal?
When is somebody within this organisation going to reign in ots before more embarrassment is caused? At the very least his 'stories' should be checked for accuracy, content, spelling and fact!
He's even very carefully taken a photo of the ticket which clearly states EXPIRY 24/01/12 10:00
I sincerely hope the 'onthespot reporter' is man enough to publish an apology to the 'over-zealous' enforcement officer and his employers.
-
The ticket will have been issued at 22.37 on the 24.1.2012, and ran until Wednesday 10.00am, as it clearly states on the ticket.
-
It depends what time the penalty was issued as to if the warden was being over zealous or not. You can purchase a ticket in the evening for the following morning, this one expires at 10am if the penalty was issued before then then yes the warden is in the wrong but I doubt that is the case, as for the doorman explaining anything at 8:30 that's still 90 mins before the ticket expired. As has already been mentioned on here OTS never lets the truth stand in the way of a good story. The advertisers who pay to be on this site need to start taking their business elsewhere until something can be done about his reporting ethics.
-
It's not like OTS to publish a photograph of a vehicle with the number plate unobscured. He must have been so excited at the opportunity to slag off a Traffic Warden that he forgot to cover it up.
As for a parking ticket that expires @ 10.00 on Wednesday 24th January, this sounds like a case for Sherlock Holmes.
-
Most odd, that ticket is all messed up on the date/time

The ticket clearly states expiry time 24/01/12 10:00, not sure what you are looking at.
-
It would appear that the ticket was issued on Tuesday (24th) at 10-37pm and due to expire at 10am on the Wednesday as freds_ghost points out. But only those in charge of the machines will be able to answer that one accurately...:-)
The hotel may well have some agreement with the department responsible for the enforcement officers to provide tickets with a suitable expiry day and date time. You don't normally buy a parking ticket that late in the day.....
-
I think the Traffic Warden requires retraining.
As it says the ticket expires on Wed at 10am.
As it was bought the night before, the date on the ticket is correct!

Quite agree, and it seems the driver has grounds for complaint to have the ticket annulled.

Not even if you have driven to the Hotel to overnight? probably completed a days work and then driven up to Hotel.

Hope they are reading your post

Well according to my P.C. the pic was taken at 8.26am, So it does look like the traffic warden was out of order.
-
I saw this ticket being issued at 8.30 this morning on my way in to work.

witness ;)

These traffic wardens are driving people out of Southport and don't care about businesses trying to make a living.
-
The ticket was purchased 22.37 tuesday and is valid till 10.00 am wednesday so therefore ticket is valid .Tickets can be purchased after 18.00 hrs for the following day which will start at 8.00 hrs the following day .

Regardless of who is right and who is wrong isn't this a rather pathetic no news story?
Would you like to suggest anyone else who would have thought for one minute that this was an acceptable news item?

My point entirely, how can the issue of a parking ticket be classed as newsworthy, even if it does occur in Southport and outside of the Vincent hotel?
-
exciting day for news in southport i can see

I agree not news worthy, But thought it only fair to point out that it was factually correct. :-)
-
It may act as a warning to others to know that they are not the only ones to get done when they appeal against the fine..
At least they can quote a precedent.

No, it doesn't. I'm looking at the ticket. Where are you looking?
As for the quality of news on here, what would you like? A murder every other day, purely for your entertainment purposes?
Next time you see a flying saucer, Im pretty sure if you give OTS the heads up, he will be there, in a flash.
Oh, btw, sometimes other people write the stories and post them in his name, Im assuming, on the grounds he isnt omnipresent.

Read the paragraph before that of yours in red... Local residents don't normally have reason to buy parking tickets that late in the evening.

Enough of this vital ''news'' my poor old brain can't stand all this excitement!!!!
