There have been bittersweet memories from Hesketh Bank locals with the demolition of The Becc.
One man told QLocal: "I've known this place for nigh on sixty years and it's sad to say but it's time has come."
The pub closed in 2009 and is now surrounded by safety fencing with demolition contractors believed to have started ripping out its ornate interior.
The Becc was best known as a community pub which had its heyday back when the village had its own railway station - visitors would travel to the village to play on its excellent bowling green.
Plans are in place to build 30 new homes on the prime site.
