This has to be one of the most moving pictures I've seen in a long time.

My daughter is a probation officer in Manchester. She's also a Christian who devotes much of her spare time on the streets of Manchester to help the homeless, and believe me it's a thankless task. One thing she told me is how the homeless always have a dog to make them appealing to you and I.

Two sad images from the city of Toronto.

Do you believe that to often be the case case though? Unfortunately my printer was running out of ink, hence the poor quality picture. The caption underneath read "Just so there is zero confusion on what companionship looks like. This could be one of the best pictures I have ever seen to come out of a bad situation."

It actually made me cry when I saw it.

Maybe certain homeless people do keep a dog in the hope that, like you say, you or I, somehow feel more sorry for them, and are more likely to donate. However, my gut instinct is that they have a dog because they receive unconditional love from them. Love that they get from nowhere else. I also reckon that the dog they have was a stray that no-one cared for either.

There are people with a home, money and security who treat dogs like sh**. In my eyes, they are the people who shouldn't be allowed to have dogs.

Take my word for it, that's not the case. They use them. There's no love, no compassion. That's something we feel for their dogs, and they know it.

You know me, well not for real.... but you know what I'm about. So you should know that I don't say this with any prejudice. These poor people are desperate.

Whilst I find what you say hard to accept, your daughter has dealt a lot with the homeless and knows what she is talking about. I obviously can't argue against her findings because I have never dealt with the homeless in the way she has. My contribution goes as far as donating to Shelter, and that's as far as it goes. Which makes me feel pretty lame to be honest.

It really does come down to the homeless being desperate and doing all they can to survive from day to day, in any way they can. But who can blame them for their actions? I live in my nice warm house, safe and secure. What worries do I have in comparison? Absolutely none.

Absolutely. We have had countless arguments, our beliefs are very different. However, I talk about what is right, and what should be done. She goes out and does something to make a difference, at cost to her. I'm a lazy liberal agnostic!

There is a guy in Southport who took a kitten into a store with him, tried on a jacket, he let the kitten go and when it heads out of the door.... ran after it.... totally 'forgetting' (ha ha) that he was wearing a brand new, unpaid for, coat!
I may be old but I ain't stupid..!!!

I was in Kensington London and outside the tube station at 7-30am was a lady sitting on the floor with a dog begging. When I returned at 8pm to my Hotel the same lady was still sitting there and it was teaming down with rain and the lady was soaked to the skin and no dog.

I stopped and asked the lady "where is your dog", she smiled and lifted up a blanket and there was the dog unseen nice and warm.

I do not believe in begging and do not give to a beggar.

But I do believe if the human race loved people like this beggar loved her dog, then the world would be a beautiful place.

this was a moving picture captured in my mind but not on a camera.
