I have been on One Vision Housing for 3 years and still i have not got anywere. My partner bids online as soon as the bidding opens, He bids on Southport ones and we are queue number one, by the end of the bidding on midnight Monday we are always queue position 13, 22, 34, 48, 60, 73. I don't understand why we are always in different queue positions each week. My partner thinks that the queue system is flawed. I hear it is a 9 to 16 years waiting list in Southport. You have a better chance in winning the Lottery then getting a home off One Vision Housing.

I think there are two in Southport, one two bedroom and one three bedroom. The one in Formby is like gold dust, there are only a few houses lft there that are not privately owned. Good luck to both of you with your search.

Have you tried Liverpool Housing Trust LHT? They have many properties in Southport.

There is also Regenda, Adactus, Johnnie Johnson and Cosmopolitan but as far as I know they all go through the OVH bidding system but you never know it's always worth a try .

Also try Jephsons as although they go through the council now, I know someone who got one with them directly last year.

Do you know this really riles me. I'm not saying you do, just the system, in the predicament you have found yourself in and others in a similar situation would it not be better to be housed in slightly smaller houses than in homeless shelters. Surely they could ask you to share a bedroom with your daughter until a more suitable property comes up. Just seems daft to me.

Don't get me started on One visions 'system'!

I lived in a council property with my Mum since 1992. OVH took over it at some point. My Mum decided to move out, and get married, after courting for a couple of years.
At this time, I had a son, and was still living with her, I also had a little girl on the way.

OVH, refused to let me stay in the property I had been in and wanted to put me in an upper floor flat in High park, in some new houses. My son was in school in Birkdale, where I live. I had to fight tooth and nail to stay in this house, which I have lived in for so long! I even had to go to the extent of involving Brenda Porter, without her, and the imminent arrival of my daughter, born one week after my official eviction notice, I don't think I'd be here.

The bidding system is seriously flawed. When I was pregnant with my first child, myself and my Mum had a falling out. I was homeless, 7 months pregnant, but, classed as priority 3! I can understand people with a child would be above me, but 3? Surely homeless and pregnant is at least a 2. The best they could offer was a hostel in Manchester, which was no good as I was working full time in Southport! They suggested a B&B, out of my wages, whilst I saved for a deposit and rent etc. to go private, I'd never have bloomin saved it! The price of a B&B!

Reminds me of a certain family, too big to fit in the OVH property they are in, but won't re-house them to something bigger, as they'll still be 'overcrowded' they'll be less overcrowded though!

The thing that gets to me about O.V.H is that we are eligible for a 2 bedroom property. But when you go on your account online and it says you are eligible to bid on lets say 14 properties, you are eligible for a three bedroom property in Bootle but not in Southport. We only need a two bed so why offer us a three bed? It is because they want to fill up those houses in the sink estates with people. My partner tells me that every local council has a town which they call a dumping ground where they want to dump problem families, the unemployed, drug users, ete, ete.

Sefton Council has Bootle as its dumping ground.
West Lancashire Council has Skelmersdale as its dumping ground.
All other councils in the UK will have a town which they use as a dumping ground.

I see the same properties in Bootle being listed week after week as nobody is bidding on them.

Many years ago we were classed as "overcrowded" as my daughter and son in law along with their baby lived with me hubby, other daughter and son in a three bed H/A property. Sefton council as it was then were most awkward in assisting them. They applied time after time for properties and even for ones outside of the area for work etc for them. We got in touch with then MP who spoke to Sefton Council they said my daughter WASN'T bidding on any properties - we had proof she had so spoke again to Sefton Council who eventually agreed they had made a cock up and not allocated her bids!!!!!!! she did evetually get a home and in Southport - but I think my point is you have no idea if your bids are even getting allocated which is dreadful - i hope you have some luck soon

I firmly believe that you should be given priority for a property in your home town if you meet the other criteria - it saves disrupting children from school and struggles with work etc - if after a certain period no-one in the home town wants it - it should then be put up for general bidding.

It's sad that with the shortage of accommodation in this area thats lots of private properties are left empty to rot by owners who neither wish to fill the property or sell it

It is also impossible in this town to get "affordable" rental properties - we are trying to move and just don't have the cash for a deposit for a mortgage so are looking at rental in the private sector - it is an absolute joke what they are charging for some of the properties - for what we want you are looking at £600+ per month - we don 't earn enough to pay that - but earn too much for any assistance so we have to stay put in a HA house that could possibly house someone else!!!!!

    Two sides to every story.

There are a lot of people put off renting out houses due to them getting wrecked and the long drawn out eviction process if someone is not paying the rent.
Carin's sister went through hell getting her house back it was ruined when she did and she was 1000's of quids out of pocket.

EDIT: Just to add One Vision are crap an I personally would rather sleep in a field than rent off them ever again. We had all sorts of problems and the housing officers could do nothing due to the amount of red tape they have to go through.

When I was a lass Council houses and private rented houses were treated with respect and maintained proudly.
Something is sadly missing in present day society pride is one of those .
But this nanny state owns that now.

I don't understand. I don't understand how you felt it was your right to stay in that house? It wasn't. If your mum had owned her house it's a whole different story, but she rented it off the council, so at what point did you feel it was yours by inheritance?

I'm really not trying to be nasty in any way, I'm just stunned at the presumptiousness of a whole new generation. You choose to have not one but two children and assume because your mum rented the house, that you could stay in it? How do you see that as fair?

No disprespect intended but where is their dad(s)? If you had one child accidentally, fair enough it happens but other people find out the hard way about renting or trying to get on a property ladder while supporting a child. The second one was surely planned so, as a couple, why didn't you and their father make plans to rent or buy?

I just don't get how you feel it is your right to stay in what was your mum's house simply because you have given birth twice? I actually think people in this situation should be penalised rather than rewarded.

Sorry if this offends you or anyone else, but I'm actually pretty offended by your belief that you are owed a roof over your head when others have to go out and graft for it.

I appreciate there are two sides to every story but I think to be fair your reply is a little off on a tangent as to what was being said - re extortionate rents.

My daughter lives in a very affluent part of the country (Cotswolds) and the property rental prices there are far cheaper than here - and believe me if we could get work there we would be off like a shot. The cost of private rent here is hideous. We both work full time and due to the recession neither of us have had a pay rise for 4 years. We are also "just over" the limit for any rent assistance. However if we decide to jack in work we could pretty much rent any two bedroomed house (our actual requirements) we wanted and get assistance with it. I do think private landlords in this town rip people off knowing the mortgage situation is dire.

Anyway rant over and back to my 'orrible little hovel

I like my little hovel. wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Back in my catering days we lived in Gerrards Cross at the time it was the most expensive town in the UK to live.
We could only afford to stay down there because work paid the rent. When we left the job it was time to come home as we could not afford to stay on.

I always looked on it as just thats the way it is, if people pay over the top rent for basic properties then Landlords will keep charging them x
