It's a pity our own MP hasn't voted against the Bill. In the latest Libdem leaflet they tell us that he's leading the fight against it. Utter nonsense. He always abstains. But then he's a Libdem so sitting on the fence comes naturally.

MPs who abstain should have their benefits stopped

There is a school of thought ( to which, incidentally, I don't subscribe) that an abstention is a betrayal of our hard won rights. Discuss, in relation to both voters and MPs.

The public elect an MP as their representative in Parliament, if that MP then sits on his/her hands, those who voted for him/her may well feel that their vote and voice has been wasted.
For an MP there are of course the tribal links, how far dare a member of the tribe deviate from the official line.
For me an MP should have either the courage of his/her convictions and vote according to their conscience, or vote according to the wishes of the people who elected them.
Abstaining is a wasted vote, just as it is with all the members of the public who don't bother to vote at an election.

The MP is only interested in the money , he really doesn't give a damn about what the people of Southport want.

I think thats quite a slur on John Pughs character. I assume you are basing this on knowledge you have or are you just a worker from a rival political party hiding behind your keyboard.
And no Im not a Lib Dem.

The MP is the mouthpiece for the people of Southport at Parliment, who should only vote the way his constituents want him to. If he abstains then hes not representing us properly. Hes obviously not bothered what we think only his masters at the head of the party. I for one will not vote again unless he does our bidding and grows a pair.

On the subject of the NHS, courtesy of the Daily Mirror, irrespective of your political allegiance, when did free speech and opinion become inappropriate

There is no mandate for this privitisation and here are some politicans who will be making money out of it:

The NHS reform is totally undemocratic, dishonest, a parody of truth and honesty, personally I have not seen the slightest thing to recommend it, I have not seen one supporter who I would trust with the welfare of a stray pigeon and how Camercon can stand in the House of Commons spouting lies that are clearly known to be lies.
According to that buffoon, waiting lists are down, only because patients are now not getting referred for treatment when they should, waiting times in A & E are up considerably.
Sounds good the concept of GPs having control of budgets, reality if a patient appears before a GP whose budget is already under pressure, is treatment to be determined by funds or need?, already we are seeing instances were patients are being switched to cheaper medication irrespective of best treatment.
Greater competition will produce efficiency , we have seen far too much of "private efficiency" in essential services already, the entire concept of the NHS is being sacrificed on the altar of private profit, patients and taxpayers are just the pawns in this exercise supposed to just shut up and pay up.
If you want to see the NHS survive we all need to shout out NOW, lobby your MPs let them know how you feel, sign up to the petition (sorry I have no link), if we stay silent very soon the NHS will be run for profit and treatment determined by your wallet.

No he will not make everybody happy ,but he could honestly serve the people who voted him in the job.
People who don't vote cannot criticise.
It's the money game all over again
