Garden
Open Days |
|
Mr
and Mrs Robertshaw of 89 Southbank Road, are happy to open
their garden to the public on virtually any day of the year.
They
also do special open days for charities such as the Red Cross
- please see above.
Usually
a £2 donation is requested which always goes 100% to
charity. Currently they are helping Nicola Wootton who
is hoping to attend the 20th World Scout Jamboree in Thiailand
2002/3 and to help to sponsor 3rd World children to enable
them to go too.

Sri
Lanka Cycle Challenge - 4th October 2002 |
| The
PDSA Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge consists of up to 10 days of
mountain biking over the terrain of Sri Lanka in temperatures
of 75 Degrees plus! The challenge is going to be hard
both physically and mentally. The goal is to raise money
for the PDSA organisation - Britain's number one veterinary
charity. |
|
PDSA's
conditions state that in addition to raising (at least) £2,250
in sponsorship, Mike also has to collect and send the money to
them by the 13th July 2002. So if you are sending
a donation, can you please make the Cheque payable to "PDSA".
(At least you will know that the PDSA are guaranteed receipt
of the money.) Thank You. |

All Mike's
events always involve raising money for Charity. Last year's
event was a Tandem Sky Dive from 14,000ft which raised well
deserved money for Cancer Research. www.mikeschallenge.co.uk |

The
PDSA was
founded in 1917, and it provides free veterinary treatment to
sick and injured animals whose owners are unable to afford
private fees. It operates 45 PetAid hospitals, treating more
than 4,500 sick and injured animals every working day. PDSA
PetAid services are funded entirely by the public (that's us)
through legacies and donations. |

London
Marathon - 14th April 2002 |
|
Hi,
my name is Margot Bowker, and I will be running the London
marathon on 14th April, for "Freshfields" Animal
Rescue Centre.
I
am hoping that some people on this site may be able to help
me.
As
well as asking for pledges they are also staging 2
competitions to raise funds. One is to guess how many training
miles I will have run between 01-01-02 and 13-04-02. £1 a
guess and the nearest guess gets half of the money raised in
this comp, e.g., 100 guesses - £50 prize.
The
other comp is to estimate my finishing time on the day - to
the nearest second! Again, £1 a guess and 2 prizes. One is a
make-over for a pooch, the other is a doggy hamper worth
approx £50.
Good,
old-fashioned pledges would also be gratefully accepted.
Pictured
below are my own 2 rescued dogs Jamilla & Goldie.

need.

Wright Street, Southport and is manned by volunteers
Monday to Friday 10am to midday. Telephone 541088. |
Major
Fundraisng
Farnborough Road
Junior School
In our modern,
technological world, computers are now seen as a vital part of children's
education. The government have provided funds for computer suites to be
installed in all primary schools. Unfortunately, the amount of funding
provided by the government is not enough to cover the costs of installing
14-16 networked PC's. Single form entry schools have generally had to
raise an extra £5,000. Farnborough Road Junior School is 4/5 form entry
and finds itself £20,000 short.
A major fund raising effort has been embarked on to raise the extra money.
Many activities involving parents, staff and pupils are taking place. In
addition FRJS are seeking sponsors from local businesses etc. Over 500
children take letters home every week. Some local businesses have already
arranged to advertise on the reverse of these letters. This is just one
way that sponsors could benefit.
Please pass this info on to anyone you think might be interested in any
sort of sponsorship or donations. The school can be contacted directly on:
01704 577625 (Head John Gall) or by e-mail: gall@farnborough62.fsnet.co.uk |
