The Fishermans Rest is situated half a mile from the centre of Southport,on Weld Rd at the end of Rotten Row.It is the only remaining part of the Palace Hotel which was demolished in 1969.
The story goes that it was haunted by a 6 year old girl,Amanda Graham,who was allegedley murdered by a hotel porter in 1961.The Fishermans Rest (The Fish as it is known locally) is said to have inherited the ghost, but this has not been proven......yet.!!!!
The Fish also has more history with the Mexico lifeboat disaster,this is shown in pictures within the pub.
The Fish boasts a home made menu which is served 7 days a week 12 - 7.30, with an ever changing specials board. Sunday Lunches are our chef Jo's speciality and are served every Sunday,with a choice of two roast meat,roast and mashed potatoes,3 seasonal veg and 'real gravy'.
Our usual menu is also available on a sunday.
We have now introduced cask ales,which are kept in top condition by Landlord John (who is quite a connoisseur himself) and also serve Theakstons Mild. Live football games are shown on the big screen - including 3pm kick offs - ring for details.
Thursday night is quiz night with cash prize and jackpot and saturday night is Party night /kareoke with Steve and Debs
We also have pool and darts.Sunday night is Poker Night
Look out for future events coming to the Fish soon - Live Bands,Tarot nights and Barbeques. Parking available for around 50 cars and an extensive beer garden that seats 60 people.
