The home was known as Westbourne Grange until the current owner recently took over at the end of August 2006.
The homes name changed to Eagles rest. The name change is in honour of proprieter Heather Jackson's late maternal grandmother who had a lasting influence on Heather.
We aim to offer a homely caring atmosphere, where the residents are offered a weekly programme of activities, which cater for all tastes and abilities.
From scrap booking and card making to surfing the Internet or listening to story tapes borrowed from the library.
Trips out to date have been to Blackpool Illuminations, the Fireworks showcase and Scarisbrick Vintage Rally. Heather is also booked by the residents for 1 to 1 outings such as Martin Mere and the Botanical Gardens.
For instance; an upcoming trip is to Bury Market, followed by a pub lunch and a meander through the country lanes around Croston.
A manager Dawn Butterworth who has been working at the home for over 20 years, assists Heather.
The fully trained staff have on average over 15 years each of service to the home and residents. Special diets are catered for and there are many choices available on the menu at every meal.
There is an active residents association, which meets the last Saturday in every month.
Friends, family and interested parties are invited to attend. After the meeting a few friendly games of bingo are played. The home is a registered care home for 16. This ensures that a family caring ethos prevails. Pets are more than welcome. The home has a very friendly Siamese cat and a happy Border Collie that loves to keep everyone company.
The large rear garden is currently being landscaped with plans afoot for a pagoda, summerhouse, patio heaters and outdoor chess. Covered wheelchair friendly paths will meander past fruit, vegetables, flowers, topiary projects and a sensory area.
We have links with doctor's surgeries, district nurses and diabetic services.
We also work with local charities, Southport Hospice and Children In Need, with regular visits from the local ministry.
