We are an independent family run business and have been selling greetings cards in Ainsdale in the former Kwik Save (now Somerfield) for 29 years. Ten years ago we started our own shop at last in Sherwood House Ainsdale.
We specialise in greetings cards and our customers tell us that we have the best collection in the Southport area.
We also sell an impressive selection of specialised gift items. (My son also has been in the business in Kirkby for the past 14 years).
Gift items include photo frames, christening gifts, key rings, ornaments, and stationary (including childrens stationary). We have many loyal customers and the customer always comes first. They really are our bosses you could say.
Independent card shops are becoming a rare breed, due to competition from wholesalers who own chain stores and also supermarkets, not to mention their ever spiralling rents.
In addition, we also have a personalised banner service for any occasion.
The name "Avacardo" is a pun. It was suggested by our longest serving employee, Mrs Margaret McDonald. People certainly remember it but we have to point out it's not a fruit, just a pun!
